My Spark

Kate Baker, Strategic Advisor

My story begins in a rural town of fewer than 600 people in southeastern Colorado - a place that continues to influence who I am today. That small-town upbringing shaped my belief in the power of community, instilled a strong work ethic, fostered a deep sense of loyalty, and curiosity for the stories that connect us all.

At my core, I’m a connector - someone who loves bringing people and ideas together. I draw inspiration from the energy of community, meaningful conversation, and the simple joys of family, friends, food, music, and travel.

My Experience

Connecting Vision, People, & Performance

I bring more than two decades of experience in corporate marketing, communications, and business development - including leadership roles with regional development and construction companies, a national commercial real estate firm, and Colorado State University.

My career has spanned a wide range of disciplines: brand strategy, marketing and client development, strategic planning, executive leadership, internal communications, and community and nonprofit engagement. This diversity of experience has shaped a holistic understanding of how marketing connects vision, people, and performance.

Before founding NorthSpark, I most recently served as Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer for Brinkman Construction.

Throughout my career, one theme has remained constant: great teams make great companies. The colleagues, partners, and clients I’ve worked alongside have inspired my belief in collaboration, clarity, and positive leadership - values that continue to guide my work today.

I hold a master’s degree in Advertising Management from the University of Denver and a bachelor’s degree in Communication, with a minor in History, from Colorado State University.
